2020. A response to COVID-19.
Glenrock State Conservation Area. Newcastle.

Raising Control. Part One.

Response to pressures created by COVID-19. I've had something similar in mind for a while now but along The Murrumbidgee River. With COVID19 restrictions, Glenrock Reserve close to home was my only option.

All I had felt in April was a severe loss of control. My studio and warehouse was at risk, projects postponed, my friends were losing jobs and my loved ones were unwell. Just like many affected by the state of things, I was losing control. As soon as everything was seemingly ok, I started this project at dawn one morning in April.

I made tools from Australian flora to paint with that I had limited control over. No control in hope that I will eventually regain it over time.

I didn’t care what tools were used. The more difficult the better. I just needed to raise my control and gain something back.

The aim. Overcome the tools, create something ok and clear my head of worry. Raising Control.
